Uniforms for the Fjordenhuis is a uniform design project developed for OLDER Paris–Milano and The Fjordenhus by Olafur Eliasson, focused on pattern making, prototyping, and technical garment development. The project explores the relationship between functionality, architectural form, and sculptural minimalism through the creation of refined workwear silhouettes.
Centered around apron development and volume research, the garments were designed to balance practicality with elegance, transforming utilitarian uniforms into expressive and visually distinctive pieces. The project combines clean construction with subtle experimental detailing, including elongated ties, structured layering, and fluid movement inspired by contemporary architecture and artistic environments.
Through draping, technical development, and silhouette experimentation, the uniforms investigate how functional garments can maintain a strong aesthetic identity while remaining wearable, adaptable, and connected to the beautiful spatial atmosphere they inhabit.
